Who we are
The Knowing Studio is run by Sachin Gopal.
Email: queries@sachingopal.com
This page explains what personal data we collect when you use theknowingstudio.com, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
We follow the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
What we collect
When you create an account or buy a course:
- Your name and email address.
- A password. We never see it. WordPress stores it in a locked code.
- Your phone number, if you give it to us.
- Which courses you bought, and your progress in them.
- A payment record. This is the order number, amount, date and the payment ID from our payment partner.
We do not collect or store your card number, UPI PIN or bank details. Those go straight to our payment partner.
When you fill a form on the site, we keep what you wrote in it, along with your name and email.
When you visit the site, our server keeps basic technical logs. This includes your IP address, browser type and the pages you opened. We use these logs to keep the site safe and working.
Why we collect it
- To give you access to the course you paid for.
- To process your payment and send you a receipt.
- To reply when you write to us.
- To send you important messages about your course, like a change in a live session time.
- To keep the site secure and stop misuse.
- To meet our legal and tax duties.
We do not sell your data. We do not rent it to anyone.
Your consent
When you sign up, you will see a checkbox to agree to this policy. It is not ticked for you. You tick it yourself.
There is a separate checkbox for marketing emails, like newsletters and offers. It is also not ticked. You can leave it empty and still buy and use any course.
You can take back your consent at any time by writing to queries@sachingopal.com. If you do, we will stop using your data, except where the law says we must keep it. Taking back consent to this policy may mean we can no longer give you course access. Taking back consent to marketing emails changes nothing else.
Who we share it with
We share only what is needed, with these services that help us run the site:
- Hosting. The site runs on servers provided by Hostinger.
- Payments. Payments are handled by Razorpay. Razorpay follows its own privacy policy.
- Security and spam checks. We use Wordfence to protect the site and Akismet (run by Automattic) to filter spam. These may see your IP address and what you type into forms.
- Fonts and videos. Some pages load fonts from Google and videos from YouTube. When this happens, Google can see your IP address.
- Reviews widget. Our home page shows Google reviews through a service called Elfsight.
Data may be stored in India, the USA and other countries by Hostinger, Razorpay, Google, Automattic (Akismet) and Elfsight.
We will share your data with the government or police only if the law requires us to.
Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser saves.
Our own cookies keep you logged in and remember what is in your cart.
Some cookies come from other companies:
- YouTube (Google). Pages with a YouTube video can set YouTube cookies when the page loads or when you play the video.
- Elfsight. The reviews widget on our home page can set Elfsight cookies.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block our own cookies, you will not be able to log in.
If we add any new tracking or advertising tools, we will update this page first.
How long we keep it
- Your account and course data: as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it within 30 days.
- Payment and invoice records: as long as tax and company law require (usually 6 to 8 years).
- Form messages: up to 2 years, then deleted.
- Server logs: up to 90 days.
Your rights
Under Indian law you can:
- Ask what data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct it or update it.
- Ask us to delete it.
- Take back your consent.
- Name another person who can act for you if you are unable to.
- Raise a complaint with us, and then with the Data Protection Board of India if you are not happy with our answer.
To use any of these rights, email queries@sachingopal.com.
If you live in the EU or UK
We use your data because you agreed to it, and because we need it to give you the course you bought. We also keep some records because the law asks us to.
You can ask for a copy of your data, in a common file format, at no cost.
Your data goes outside the EU and UK, to India, the USA and other countries listed above. Where needed, we rely on the standard contract terms that our service providers offer for this.
You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Children
Our courses are meant for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account or buy a course. We do not collect data from children on purpose.
Keeping data safe
We use a secure connection (HTTPS) on the whole site. Access to student data is limited to the people who run the studio. No system is perfect. If a data leak ever affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
Grievance Officer
If you have a concern about your data, write to our Grievance Officer.
